Our Granite State Management & Resources (GSM&R) team members remain deeply committed to working with our borrowers during this national emergency. Please read below for information regarding the servicing of your GSM&R loan(s).

For Direct Loans (your account number begins with F8)

  • You will automatically have interest set to 0% for at least 60 days, effective March 13, 2020. This change will take a short period of time to be implemented. Our staff will make these changes for you; no further action is needed on your part.
  • Additionally, if you are or become more than thirty days past due, you will automatically have a forbearance of at least 60 days applied to your account. This change will take a short period of time to be implemented. Our staff will make these changes for you; no further action is needed on your part.
  • If your account is current or less than 30 days delinquent, you may also contact us to request a forbearance, during which time no interest will accrue and your loan will not go delinquent. You may request this forbearance by calling 888.556.0022, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
  • If you receive an automatic forbearance but prefer to continue making payments, you may request that we remove the forbearance and return your loan to a repayment status.
  • If you have experienced a change in income, you may view various repayment plan options here.
  • If you are unemployed, you may be eligible for an Unemployment Deferment. Please click here to download the form.
  • If you wish to continue paying your loans based on your current monthly payment, you are free to do so. You do not need to contact us if you want to keep making payments. This could help you pay down your loan balance more quickly because the full amount of your monthly payments will be applied to principal once all interest accrued prior to the president’s March 13 announcement waiving interest on all federally held student loans is paid.
  • For additional information regarding these options, including the impact on Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), please visit Federal Student Aid’s coronavirus (COVID-19) information page.

For NHHELCO TREE®, LEAF®, and EDvestinU® Loans (your account number begins with C7)

For Federal Family Education (FFEL) Loans (your account number begins with C7)

  • You may request National Disaster Forbearance for up to 90 days. Please call us at 800.719.0708 to request this forbearance.
