The New Hampshire Higher Education Loan Corporation (NHHELCO) is not currently offering a private student loan for borrowers, but wants to assist students as they search for loans to supplement the federal loan program. Private student loans are another option for students to use when they have not found all the financial resources neccesary to fund their education. The one thing students need to be aware of is the differences in the private student loan options available. It is important to remember that private student loans should be taken out only after all federal, grant and scholarship opportunities have been exhausted.
The Department of Education and the Federal Trade Commission developed a guide for borrowers, "Student Loans: Avoiding Deceptive Offers", to ensure that students are receiving the most beneficial aid available to them.
