Campaign for Financial Education Kicks- Off with FREE Webinars for Student Loan Borrowers
Concord, NH- The NHHEAF Network Organizations has partnered with the Consumer Credit Counseling Services of NH & VT (CCCS of NH &VT) to develop The Campaign for Financial Education (CFE) which is focused on educating students about the importance of sound personal financial management.
According to NHHEAF's analysis of NH credit card users, Clothed, Fed & Over Their Heads, an astounding 46% of all college students were reported delinquent on their credit card payments. Responsibility with finances is a lesson that is often learned the hard way leaving teens and young adults to suffer through the negative effects of poor decisions for years to come. For this reason, CFE was developed. In addition to classroom-based presentations, financial literacy materials and web resources, CFE organizer, Tori Berube of NHHEAF, has also designed webinars. The webinars are free and aim to teach student loan borrowers, recent college graduates (and the families that love them) about the importance of spending economically, using credit cards responsibly and protecting themselves against scams and identity theft. Each webinar is focused on a different topic and provides attendees with skills that will help build a foundation for future success in managing debt and finances.
The sessions are scheduled on Thursdays from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm on the following dates:
October 29, 2009: “Credit Worthy” Credit for Your Future
December 10, 2009: “Deter, Detect, Defend” - The Crime of Identity Theft
January 28, 2010: Budgeting for Success
March 25, 2010: Money Management for Young Adults
May 13, 2010: Dealing with Personal Debt
Each session will be hosted by Rebecca Palmer, Director of Education for CCCS of NH & VT. Rebecca is a nationally certified Consumer Credit Counselor with extensive knowledge of money and credit management. She has a degree in Business Administration, a wealth of knowledge of the credit reporting industry and over twenty years of experience in the credit and finance industries.
